Encanto family movie night

Posted by Miranda Weldon on

We needed party food and treats for our family movie night watching Disney’s Encanto. I made Arepas con queso, zucchini Rellenos and tostones with guacamole as entrees. I added Bruno’s vision cupcakes and flower pretzel bites as sweets. For our popcorn I made paper cups that looked like the candle. Hurricane mocktails were the perfect drink!

Reading Campout Day - Class Snack - Let’s read s’more bags

Posted by Miranda Weldon on

The last week of school was the room mom gauntlet of special days! I always make and send special snacks for themed days and the last week of school was full of themed days!  One of the last days our teacher planned was Reading Campout Day. She set up reading tents in the classroom and encouraged everyone to bring blankets, a flashlight and a favorite book. Making Tie Dye Shirts with class

Posted by Miranda Weldon on

The kindergarten teachers at my daughters school decided to have a field day as an end of the year celebration, and wanted for each class to make tie dye shirts in different color combinations to wear during the field day activities. I had bought a tie dye kit and a bunch of white shirts/bags/ect for the girls to dye. I remember nothing coming out very vibrant. I knew...

The kindergarten classes at my daughters school have Habitat day. Each of the 12 kindergarten classes are assigned a different habitat and each student is assigned an animal from their classes habitat. The kids have to research their animal, write a paper, dress up as their animal and then give a presentation to all the other kindergarten classes. My daughter brought home a paper with her assigned animal, Sea Anemone! Yikes! She couldn’t even pronounce Sea Anemone (she sounded just like Nemo in Finding Nemo trying to say he lived in an Amnemonemomne) and she would have to give a...

Easter class snack - Cheeseball carrots

Posted by Miranda Weldon on

Everyone knows the Easter bunny loves carrots, but kindergarten kids, probably not as much (although my daughter does love roasted carrots with goat cheese)! My daughters class had a STEM activity and craft planned that involved carrots the week before Easter. I was trying to come up with an idea for their special snack that matched the carrot theme, without having them turn their noses up at raw carrot sticks!  I decided I wanted to make something that looked like a carrot but with a more child friendly flavor. I happened to be making some Royal icing cookies that week...
