Illusion costume - The Big Bad Wolf carrying Little Red Riding Hood

My neighborhood always has a big adult-only Halloween Party every year. The party includes a costume competition. The first year I decided to make my own Halloween costume was in 2020. The party was planned at the last minute since no one knew if we would be able to gather due to Covid. I hadn’t thought about or shopped for a Halloween costume when we decided to attend the party a few days later. I was going through a box of old Halloween Costume pieces when I found a Wolf Mask and Red Cape. I suggested to my husband that we could...
My Magician’s Assistant from Beetlejuice Costume - 2022 Costume Contest Winning Costume with Step by Step Directions

Halloween is my favorite holiday, and always one of my favorite opportunities to get crafty! I have won my neighborhood's costume competition for the last 3 years, along with a contest at a local brewery last year. My favorite style of costume is illusion costumes. I love for people to be trying to figure out how I made something or how I am pulling off an effect. I love historical characters and old movies and rarely want to make a costume involving current events or something modern. Last year my costume was Marie Antoinette (after her head had been cut...
Sea Anemone costume DIY

The kindergarten classes at my daughters school have Habitat day. Each of the 12 kindergarten classes are assigned a different habitat and each student is assigned an animal from their classes habitat. The kids have to research their animal, write a paper, dress up as their animal and then give a presentation to all the other kindergarten classes. My daughter brought home a paper with her assigned animal, Sea Anemone! Yikes! She couldn’t even pronounce Sea Anemone (she sounded just like Nemo in Finding Nemo trying to say he lived in an Amnemonemomne) and she would have to give a...
The Best Beach Shade - Super Easy Setup Lightweight Canopy!

I sewed my own canopy after seeing a picture my husband shared with me of a style he wanted. Most of my sewing projects are for my kids, and I was happy to use my sewing skills to make something for my husband, for once. At the time he showed me the picture, I didn't know anything about the company that made the beach canopy he showed me. I wasn't aware the company had several utility and design patents, and I wasn't aware that patents prohibit reproducing a product, even for personal use.
I know you may be visiting MagpieTayleetot right now because you bookmarked my tutorial. I know you may be disappointed to see the tutorial is no longer here. Unfortunately, I can no longer, in good faith, share instructions on how I reproduced someone else's idea and product.
